What Are the Odds: 2023 Over/Under Win Totals for the Panthers

The oddsmakers in Las Vegas don't see the Panthers making much progress this fall.

Heading into the 2023 season, the oddsmakers in Las Vegas have the Panthers falling short of a winning season once again. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Panthers' over/under win total for the year is set at 7.5.

How can the Panthers go OVER 7.5 wins?

As always, it starts and ends with quarterback play. This year, the Panthers will be learning on a rookie at the position, so it will truly depend on how smooth his transition from college to the NFL goes and how quickly he can feel comfortable within the offense. The offensive line and the weapons he has behind him at running back and on the outside at receiver are good enough to compete in the NFC South. The defense is a top-10 unit and can probably end up winning some games early while the youngster gets his feet wet.

How can the Panthers go UNDER 7.5 wins?

The Panthers won seven games this past season with virtually no passing game. They dropped a few one-score games early that could have gone in their favor had they received better play from the quarterback. Even if the rookie QB fails to win the job out of training camp, the Panthers have Andy Dalton on the roster, who can serve as a bridge and has the ability to win games. In a fairly weak division, the only way I see the Panthers falling short of eight wins is if they suffer a substantial amount of injuries.
