Monday, the Carolina Panthers pulled the trigger on a Brian Burns trade, sending him to the New York Giants for the 39th overall pick, a fifth round pick in 2024, and a swap of fifth rounders in 2025.

The move was an unpopular one in Carolina as Burns becomes the third star player in as many years (Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore) to be traded out of town. Losing Frankie Luvu to the Washington Commanders was the double whammy for Ejiro Evero's defense, seeing his best disrupters no longer on the roster.

GM Dan Morgan has his work cut out for him in trying to rebuild this defense and one pass rusher that could be a part of that process is free agent Chase Young. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Young will visit the Panthers along with NFC South rival, New Orleans, this week.

The former 2nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by Washington has dealt with some tough injuries at the start of his career, missing eight games in 2021 with ACL tear. That injury also required him to sit out the majority of the 2022 campaign, playing in just the final three games. This past November, the Commanders traded him to San Francisco.

In 43 career games, Young has tallied 100 tackles, 32 QB hits, 20 tackles for loss, and 16.5 sacks.
