Panthers Legend Steve Smith Sr. to be Inducted into NC Sports Hall of Fame

Steve Smith Sr. is one of North Carolina's best.

Carolina Panthers legendary wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. will be inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in May of 2024 in Charlotte. He will be enshrined alongside Randolph Childress, Sheila Ford Duncan, Caroline Lind, Bob McKillop, Jim Nantz, Pettis Norman, Shea Ralph, Don Skakle, Marilyn "Que" Tucker and Ron Wellman.

Smith had quite the 15-year career in the NFL, spending twelve seasons with the Carolina Panthers. During his time in a Panther uniform, Smith recorded 836 receptions for 12,197 yards and 67 touchdowns. In 2005, he won the Triple Crown for receivers, leading the league with 103 catches, 1,563 yards, and 12 touchdowns. That achievement has only happened once since Smith did it, recently occurring in 2021 (Cooper Kupp).

The 60th annual Induction Celebration will take place Friday, May 10, at the Charlotte Convention Center beginning at 5 p.m. EST.
