Carolina Panthers 7-Round Mock Draft: A Projection Full of Dogs

A full projection of Panthers' picks.

It's officially mock draft season here at All Panthers on FanNation/SI. Each week leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, we will release a new full, seven-round Carolina Panthers mock.

RD 2, Pick 33: WR Xavier Legette (South Carolina)

The more film I watch, the more I fall in love with the idea of taking Xavier Legette. The tough part his evaluation is the fact he only had one year of high level production. Those who have conviction on the Gamecock receiver could see him going as early as the latter part of the first round while those who are a bit skeptical have him going in the third. It seems like Carolina likes what they see, so I'll mix it up this week and say they take Legette at 33.

RD 2, Pick 39 (from NYG): C Zach Frazier (West Virginia)

This would be the perfect scenario for Carolina. This is about the range Frazier should go, but teams are falling in love with him which could make it difficult for him to slide to 39. In this case, he does. Carolina comes out of round two with another weapon for Bryce Young and the center of the future with Frazier.

RD 3, Pick 65: LB Payton Wilson (North Carolina State)

Another familiar name that I've mocked to the Panthers more than once. I can't help but think Wilson fits exactly what Dan Morgan wants in a linebacker. Tough, hard-nosed, blue-collar, and extremely smart. Injury history is the only reason I think he falls to the third round.

RD 4, Pick 101: DT Maason Smith (LSU)

Smith has the ability to develop into a quality starter down the road, but he's going to need some time. The good thing is, he can come right in and learn and play behind A'Shawn Robinson who is on a three-year deal. I really like this pick and I'm a firm believer that Smith can make an impact as a rotational player in year one.

RD 5, Pick 141 (from NYG): CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr. (Louisville)

Brownlee projects as a nickel at the next level and although Troy Hill fits nicely in that role for Carolina, he is 32, turning 33 in August. It wouldn't hurt to bring in a guy on a rookie contract who has the versatility to play the nickel and outside, such as Brownlee. He totaled 22 passes defended and six interceptions in his collegiate career.

RD 5, Pick 142 (from TEN): TE Jared Wiley (TCU)

I believe this is the second time I've mocked Wiley to the Panthers. I know Dan Morgan and Dave Canales seem to be very high on Tommy Tremble and his potential in the new offense, but they also each mentioned that they would like to add some competition to the room. Wiley is a big target over the middle of the field and could slot nicely in the role of TE3 as a rookie.

RD 7, Pick 240 (from PIT): EDGE Nelson Ceaser (Houston)

Ceaser is a day three pick, but figuring out exactly where on day three is a chore. Really, at this point in the draft, it's throwing darts at a board blindfolded in terms of projecting when players will go. But back to the selection, Ceaser can add to the Panthers' pass rush despite being a little undersized. Potential Marquis Haynes Sr. replacement.
