Miles Sanders Says He'll 'Absolutely' be Ready for Week 1

Panthers fans haven't been able to see much out of their new running back Miles Sanders as he's been nursing a groin injury that he suffered early in training camp. He missed some time in Spartanburg and has also missed the first two preseason games. There is, however, a chance that he gets a few reps in Friday night's preseason finale against the Detroit Lions.

"Yeah, hopefully. It's still to be determined still," Sanders said about the possibility of playing Friday. "My first day back was [Monday]. Had a good practice, grinding, and taking it day-by-day."

Although he would like to get his feet wet in this new offense in a live game before the regular season begins, the main priority is making sure he's able to go for Week 1 in Atlanta, which he says he will "absolutely" be ready for.

Sanders is coming off a career year in which he rushed for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns, helping the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance.

"Miles has that dog inside of him that I love. His preparation, his focus," said running backs coach Duce Staley. "Just getting back and being able to feel good after suffering an injury of course was number one. He's been working his butt off to get back and practice. Of course us as coaches try not to look ahead. We worry about practice first and then if he can get through practice, we talk about the game."
