In this story:

Most around the league expect the Carolina Panthers to go with an offensive-minded coach when they announce the hire of its next head coach in the coming weeks.

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is the top target for several teams withe a head coach opening but Bobby Slowik of the Houston Texans is making a strong push as the most sought after candidate.

Slowik called a really impressive game against the Cleveland Browns, one of the best defenses in the league, in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs. The Texans put up 356 yards of total offense, most of which came from the arm of rookie QB C.J. Stroud, who became the youngest QB to win a playoff game.

Stroud completed 16-of-21 pass attempts for 274 yards and three touchdowns as Houston blew out Cleveland, 45-14.

During the regular season, Stroud threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns to just five interceptions as a rookie, leading Houston to an AFC South division title. Houston finished the year ranked 12th in total offense (342.4 ypg), seventh in passing (245.5 ypg), 22nd in rushing (96.9 ypg), and 13th in scoring (22.2 ppg).

The job Slowik did with a young quarterback should be extremely enticing to Panthers owner David Tepper.

Slowik has received interest from Atlanta, Tennessee, and Washington in addition to Carolina
