Injuries in the Carolina Panthers wide receiver room continue as Laviska Shenault Jr. has landed in concussion protocol following a hit during Monday's practice.

"It was an incidental contact," said head coach Frank Reich. "He was blocking on a run play and just got hit the wrong way at the wrong time. Didn't sense it was a bad hit. It wasn't one of those ones where you say 'ooh' but it happens every now and then."

The coaching staff loves the versatility Shenault brings to the table and Frank Reich in particular has talked about using him in a similar role that Deebo Samuel has with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Panthers are currently without Terrace Marshall Jr. (back), Damiere Byrd (hamstring) is on injured reserve, and Derek Wright just returned to practice yesterday after nursing a knee.

The injuries at the position have opened up opportunities for guys like Shi Smith, Javon Wims, and Gary Jennings, all of whom are fighting for a roster spot.
