In this story:

Nine games into the 2023 season and the Carolina Panthers are still searching for solutions on the offensive side of the football. After an 0-6 start to the campaign, head coach Frank Reich made the decision to give up the offensive play-calling duties, handing it over to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown.

The idea behind it was that it would allow Reich to take on more of a CEO role and make for a smoother operation. Unfortunately, the offense has taken a step in the wrong direction as evidenced in the numbers provided below.

REICH (6 games)

PPG: 18.6

Passing yards per game: 221.3

Rushing yards per game: 98.0

Bryce Young: 6 TDs, 4 INTs

BROWN (3 games)

PPG: 13.6

Passing yards per game: 197.6

Rushing yards per game: 75.0

Bryce Young: 2 TDs, 3 INTs

Following the loss to Chicago, Reich was asked if will consider regaining the play-calling duties.

"Obviously as the head coach, I got to look at everything. I do understand though as a long-time play-caller myself that when things aren't going well, it's really really easy to point the finger at play-calling, so I don't want to overreact to that," stated Reich. 'I'm going to continue to evaluate everything and do what we think is best for the team. But like I said, because of my experience calling it, I understand how much responsibility and finger gets pointed when it's usually several factors. I'm not saying it's not important. It is important and it does factor. But I just don't want to jump to any quick conclusions. But as the head coach I'm obviously open to always doing what I think is best to help us win.

"As a head coach, I'm responsible for looking at how do we make things better? I'm not looking at any staff changes at this point. I can tell you that. We are always looking for what we can do to get better. It's never just one factor it's several factors usually. The way to go about that is each person own up to their responsibility and that's how we'll approach it."
