Panthers Reportedly Restructuring Ian Thomas' Contract

In this story:
Veteran tight end Ian Thomas appears to be looking to say put in Carolina as Joe Person of The Athletic reported Sunday that the Panthers are restructuring his contract.
Thomas signed a three-year extension with the organization back in 2022, but will have his contract re-done for the second time in as many seasons. Currently, Thomas is scheduled to have a base salary of $3.25 million in 2024.
The former fourth-round pick has never developed into the receiving threat they had hoped for when he came out of Indiana in 2018. His best season as a pass catcher actually came as a rookie where he caught 36 balls for 333 yards and two touchdowns. Totals in all three categories have been lower in each of his last five seasons.
Thomas missed some action in 2023 with a calf injury, resulting in his lowest receiving production of his career - five catches for 56 yards.
