Instant reaction to Patriots signing Antonio Brown

It's hard to believe it happened.

The New England Patriots broke the NFL on Saturday. They managed to sign arguably the NFL's best wide receiver, Antonio Brown, the same day that he talked his way out of the Oakland Raiders organization and $30 million in guarantees. The Patriots managed to not only sign Brown, but they only tied up $9 million in contract guarantees to him, and more importantly, for just one year.

New England surprisingly jumped quickly to sign Brown, especially after seeing the drama he created in Oakland over money and discipline, which are two things the Patriots don't cater to for players. But as they have done in the past with some outspoken players, New England will do their part in making it clear to Brown that his antics will be short-lived during his tenure with the Patriots, which will hopefully clean up his act. 

Brown has showed with his newly-signed contract that he wants to win, and that money may not entirely be his motive this late in his career, though that could change a year from now. Also, he is willing to prove that he is not a cancer to a football team by signing with the most team-first organization in the NFL.

In Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins the Patriots will get to put out a starting offensive unit that will consist of Brown, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman, Tom Brady, and Sony Michell. Not only will it be the top offense in the NFL, but it makes their chances of another Super Bowl appearance that much easier, barring any injuries to the team or continued antics performed by Brown which would result in his termination from New England. 

One can only expect that another Super Bowl championship is well in reach for New England this season. It'll be up to the rest of the league to rip it from their grasps.
