Raiders NFL Draft Prospects: TE/FB Ben Sinnott

With Las Vegas Raiders fullback Jakob Johnson being a free agent and his future with the team having been questioned last season, Las Vegas should look at a fullback in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Fullbacks are not a common pick in the NFL Draft, especially since the game has gone away from the utility of the position in the NFL's current era.

The Las Vegas Raiders have always been known for using the fullback to their advantage, though, and even to this day, the club makes a point to use the position as it sees fit.

The Raiders' latest weapon at fullback has been Jakob Johnson, but with the team having almost completely parted ways with the four-year NFL fullback last season and his status as an unrestricted free agent currently, Las Vegas may want to consider moving on at the position.

There are some solid prospects in this year's NFL Draft class who could potentially thrive as NFL fullbacks. One such prospect is Ben Sinnott of Kansas State, who primarily played tight end in college.

Sinnott was named a 2023 All-American Honorable Mention by Phil Steele and was a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation's top tight end. He totaled 676 yards and six touchdowns on 49 receptions in his 12 starts last season, all of which were all-time single-season receiving records by a K-State tight end.

Pro Football Focus gave Sinnott an overall grade of 82.0 for his 2023 campaign, as well as a run-block grade of 76.1.

At the 2024 NFL Combine, Sinnott recorded a 40-yard-dash time of 4.68 seconds, a 10-yard-split time of 1.59 seconds, a vertical jump of 40 inches, a broad jump of 10-feet-6-inches, a 3-cone drill time of 6.82 seconds and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.23 seconds.

NFL Next Gen Stats gave Sinnott a production score of 81 and a total score of 80, both of which ranked third among all tight ends in his draft class. He also received an athleticism score of 84, which was the fourth-highest among tight ends.

The following is NFL analyst Lance Zierlein's evaluation of Sinnott:

"Athletic F tight end with an ability to add value in the passing game and handle some blocking duties in space. The former walk-on has added 40 pounds to his frame without losing his speed or agility. He’s an adequate route runner with the quickness to compete against man coverage on all three levels and get additional yards after the catch. He lacks NFL physicality to hold up on blocking duties near the line, and he needs to prove he can play with quicker, stronger hands as a pass catcher. Sinnott is a Day 3 talent but his NFL journey could be determined by whether he can get just a little bit better in all phases."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
