Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: HB Ray Davis, Kentucky

The Las Vegas Raiders might want to draft a running back for depth while also having an option for the future.

A big factor that goes into the decisions teams make at the NFL Draft is where they might need a long-term option.

The Las Vegas Raiders likely have their starter at running back in Zamir White, and while it may seem like the young back out of Georgia just joined the franchise, he will be entering his third NFL season.

The rest of the running back room is made up of veterans, making it somewhat necessary that Las Vegas starts thinking about adding youth to the group.

A great option for the club would be 2024 NFL Draft prospect Ray Davis from Kentucky.

Davis made quite the mark in the Wildcats' record books in what was just his one season with the program. He finished the 2023 campaign with 1,129 rushing yards, the 11th-most in program history for a single-season. The prospect also scored seven receiving touchdowns, which broke the program's single-season record for a running back.

Davis also broke the program record for most points scored in a single season with 126. He finished the season third in the nation in total touchdowns with 21, which also broke a program single-season record.

For his efforts, Davis was named to the 2023 All-SEC Second Team. Pro Football Focus gave Davis an overall grade of 87.5 for his 2023 campaign.

Davis transferred to Kentucky from Vanderbilt, where he recorded 1,042 rushing yards, five rushing touchdowns, 169 receiving touchdowns, and three touchdown receptions. He was named a Comeback Player of the Year semifinalist after playing just three games the season prior due to injury.

Davis began his collegiate career at Temple, where he totaled 1,244 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, 243 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in his two seasons with the program (16 games).

At the 2024 NFL Combine, Davis recorded a 40-yard-dash time of 4.52 seconds, a 10-yard-split time of 1.56 seconds, a 35-inch vertical jump, a 9-feet-11-inch broad jump, and a 20-yard-shuttle time of 4.51 seconds.

NFL Next Gen Stats gave Davis a production score of 75 for his Combine outing, which ranked fifth among all halfbacks. He also received an athleticsm score of 66 and a total score of 74.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
