Raiders are Leaning in This Offseason

A large portion of Las Vegas Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce's team has been putting in the work this offseason.

Last month, the Las Vegas Raiders watched their top rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, hoist the Lombardi Trophy in their own stadium.

The only way they could answer was to get back to the lab as soon as possible.

Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce said at the NFL Owners' Meetings on Monday that 30 of his players have already been back to work out this offseason.

"We've been averaging about 20 guys since after the Super Bowl in our building working out every day," Pierce said. "And I'm not talking about the rookies -- Maxx Crosby, Davante Adams, Kolton Miller, some of our key players, Aidan O'Connell.

"It's loud, it's kind of like this right here, it's a lot of chatter, it's noisy. People are not walking on eggshells. You're being yourself, you're smiling, coming to work happy.

"So, it's two different types of people in life, right? There's people that work to live and people that live to work."

For a first-time full-time head coach with something to prove, that sight could not be better.

"That's how football should be," Pierce said. "It's a kids game. You get paid a lot of money, lot of pressure. You shouldn't come to work mad. You should be enjoying every day, every second of it.

"It's a part-time job. I was 21 when I came into the league, I was 31 when I left. It was a part-time job; I had to go get several other jobs to [get to] where I'm at today to be in this position now.

"So, don't take it for granted, love what you do, be proud that you're with the Raiders organization and that hopefully you're around something that we're building that's going to be special."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
