The Las Vegas Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo last week to become the next starting quarterback for the Silver and Black, but as the roster continues to shape up, the team still needs to add depth at that position.

Throughout the offseason, we've worked alongside SI’s Draft Bible to get you the latest information on any potential players the Raiders might consider drafting.

Quarterback Tanner McKee, Stanford Cardinal

"On film, McKee displays many of the skills necessary to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. His arm strength stood out. He can effortlessly throw the ball downfield without it fluttering or losing velocity. He can lead receivers and hit them in stride, even when he is under pressure,” NFL Draft Bible said of McKee.

At 6-6 and 230 pounds, McKee has the size, accuracy, and vision NFL teams are looking for in a prospect. Despite the down season and offensive flaws, he still managed to complete 264-of-426 passes (62 percent), with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions while adding two rushing TDs.

“The Cardinal signal caller has long been viewed as everything an NFL team would want in terms of intangibles, but his on the field production is what has derailed him from being a surefire lock to be a first rounder,” All-Cardinal said of McKee.

After committing to Stanford as a four-star prospect from high school, McKee served two years on a religious mission in Paranaguá, Brazil.

McKee wasn’t supposed to be this good after serving his mission; with no gym and proper diet, he made the best out of what he had and would return to Palo Alto to serve as the starting quarterback for the Cardinals the last two years.

Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels makes his money with a pocket-passing quarterback, so adding a prospect like McKee onto the roster could be the next big thing in keeping his career safe in Las Vegas.

Projected as a second-round selection in this year’s draft, the Raiders can select McKee there or trade-up to get him.

The Raiders might also trade down in the first round to accumulate draft stock, and in doing so, another second pick might be in reach, which can be used to select McKee.

The NFL Draft will occur at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., from Thursday, April 27 to Saturday, April 29. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will broadcast all seven rounds.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EST on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
