Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell earned a lot of praise for his play in this year's preseason.

After two regular season games of not quite living up to those exhibition performances, O'Connell is slowly beginning to regain that acclaim after a strong outing in the Raiders' 30-6 victory over the New York Giants last week.

Perhaps the most meaningful approval is that of one of the top wide receivers in the league, Davante Adams.

"I mean, he just continues to show just the right way," Adams told the media on Wednesday. "The way he takes care of his body, his attention to detail, he's here early, he's here late. So, it's impressive to see because it's been a lot of things, a lot of distractions in the way, and he's been one of the most focused people probably in this building since the beginning, just waiting on his opportunity and not praying on anybody's downfall but just is there in the event that his number gets called.

"And it has been a couple times, and he's answered, so he's got a lot that he's done to feel confident about moving forward. He's just got to stay with it."

Adams made sure to let the rookie know he's doing things the right way.

"[A]idan stepped up," the All-Pro wide receiver said. "He took control of the offense, took control of the huddle, and he was locked in all week, and immediately, as soon as he knew he was the guy moving forward, you could see that ownership and that confidence that's in there.

"And I actually talked to him; we were walking out of the game, or walking out of the locker room together heading over to see our families, and I just kind of told him that: 'Man, you've got a confidence and a swagger out there that's -- it's different. It's not loud, it's not showboating and stuff like that, but it's just a sense of I belong.' And he certainly does, so it's good that he's got that."

The Silver and Black will remain at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the New York Jets on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 8:20 p.m. EST/5:20 p.m. PST.
