Raiders' New QB Duo: O'Connell and Minshew II

The Las Vegas Raiders have a new quarterback duo in Aidan O'Connell and veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew II.

There are still questions the Las Vegas Raiders need to settle before the 2024 NFL Draft, including whether or not they will draft a quarterback.

The Raiders have a new quarterback duo in second-year Aidan O'Connell and fifth-year veteran Gardner Minshew II.

Minshew signed a two-year, $25-million contract with the Silver and Black in free agency. He has spent five seasons in the NFL, two with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles and one with the Indianapolis Colts.

Minshew has completed 891 passes on 1,423 attempts for 9,937 yards and 59 touchdown passes in 49 career games.

Last season, Minshew played all 17 games for the Colts, throwing 305 completions on 490 attempts for 3,305 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Minshew finished the season with an overall grade of 62.0 from Pro Football Focus, a passing grade of 60.6, and a rushing grade of 59.6.

With his experience, Minshew will be able to mentor second-year quarterback O'Connell, who had a tremendous first season with the Raiders. He played 11 games, going 5-5 overall as a starter and 3-1 in the AFC West. O'Connell finished his rookie season completing 213 passes on 343 attempts, throwing for 2,218 yards and 12 touchdowns.

O'Connell finished his rookie season with a PFF overall grade of 65.9, a passing grade of 64.6, and a rushing grade of 61.6.

The quarterback competition between O'Connell and Minshew this offseason will be fun to watch as the new duo looks to make an impact on the Silver and Black's offense next season. Regardless of what the quarterback room looks like by training camp, this duo will make for a great position battle.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
