The question of whom the Las Vegas Raiders will draft in the first round of next month's draft has loomed all offseason, and it likely won't be known until that Thursday, April 25.

The Raiders could take several routes, and the quarterback position seems to be a popular possibility among Raider Nation.

One of those top quarterback prospects is J.J. McCarthy, a top-tier talent who has the support of Raiders Hall of Famer Charles Woodson.

Woodson, of course, is a former Michigan Wolverine, just like McCarthy. He was also on the last national championship team at Michigan before McCarthy's 2023 national title squad ended the 26-year drought.

"I mean, life couldn't get more perfect, could it?" Woodson said of the possibility of Las Vegas drafting McCarthy when he joined "Mad Dog Sports Radio" last Wednesday.

McCarthy started all 15 games for the Wolverines last season, leading them to a third straight Big Ten title and a College Football Playoff appearance.

After failing to make it to the national championship game in the two years prior, Michigan got over the hump and won the national title, finishing with a 15-0 record.

"I have a ton of respect for J.J. McCarthy and the way he led that Michigan Wolverines team last year," Woodson said. " ... It would take him a little time to acclimate. I think he needs a little more time to develop, but if they [the Raiders] were to land that young man, I think his ceiling is very high, and that would be awesome if he was to don the Silver and Black."

The Oakland Raiders selected Woodson with the fourth overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft. He played two stints for the franchise, 11 seasons in total.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
