The Las Vegas Raiders made some big roster moves on Tuesday, amidst the club's first day of donning pads in training camp.

The Raiders announced on Tuesday that they have signed quarterback Chase Garbers and linebacker Darius Harris. Garbers was waived by the team last Tuesday.

The second-year NFL quarterback was elevated from the Raiders' practice squad to the active roster as former Las Vegas quarterback Jarrett Stidham's backup for the club's final two games of the 2022 season.

Harris, a former Kansas City Chief, comes off his second Super Bowl title. He played in all 17 games for Kansas City last season, making four starts.

In 2022, Harris finished the season with 43 combined tackles, three for losses, two quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, a pass defensed and a fumble recovery.

Perhaps the Raiders' most significant roster announcement on Tuesday, though, was the club's waiving of former first-round pick O.J. Howard.

Howard was brought in back in March, only days after the Raiders traded former Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants.

Howard was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 19th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He would spend five seasons in Tampa, where he was a member of the Super Bowl LV title team.

In six seasons, Howard has 1,882 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Raiders also announced they have waived offensive tackle Justin Murray and linebacker Kana'i Mauga.

Murray was signed by Las Vegas to a reserve/future contract in February.

His NFL career began with the Raiders in 2018, when they were in Oakland. He has since played for the Arizona Cardinals and Buffalo Bills.

In total, Murray has made 20 starts in 37 career games.

Mauga, on the other hand, has yet to play a down in the NFL. He was signed to the Raiders' practice team last December before being signed to a reserve/future contract in January.

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
