Todd Christensen Deserves Discussion for Hall of Fame

Former Raiders tight end Todd Christensen deserves discussion as an inductee to the NFL Hall of Fame.

At least one Las Vegas Raider should be discussed for the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame and that former Raider is tight end Todd Christensen.

Christensen spent 10 seasons with the Raiders from 1979-1988 and finished with 461 catches for 5,872 yards and 42 touchdowns in 136 games as a tight end for the Silver and Black.

A recent Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast with our Hondo Carpenter Sr. featured Rick Gosselin as a special guest. The episode featured their Hall of Fame case for Christensen, fixing NFL officiating, and much more.

Gosselin had the opportunity to share his thoughts on Christensen and why he deserves to be discussed as an NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame player.

"Todd Christensen is a player who deserves consideration and deserves discussion in the Hall of Fame," Gosselin said. "That's the problem I have with the selection process. We don't cycle enough people through the room for whatever reason.

"I know two factors: 75 percent of all players in the Hall of Fame made all-decade, and Todd didn't. Also, 64 percent of them won championships, but Todd did win championships."

"This is a guy who won two receiving titles. He was in that bridge era of tight ends where they moved from blockers to pass catchers: Charlie Sanders, Ozzie Newsome, Kellen Winslow, and Todd Christensen. He's the one guy who has fallen through the cracks."

"There are a lot of tight ends right now who need to be discussed, and there are Hall of Fame-worthy players, and I think Todd Christensen is among those."
