Raiders Antonio Pierce on DE Tyree Wilson

Las Vegas Raiders interim Coach Antonio Pierce speaks about rookie defensive end Tyree Wilson.

The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing for their Week 10 game against the New York Jets this Sunday night in Allegiant Stadium.

This Sunday night will be the fourth prime-time game the Raiders will play this season and the second Sunday Night Football game.

There is no doubt that the Raiders' defense had its best performance of the season last week against the New York Giants. The Silver and Black defense ended the game with two turnovers and eight sacks, the most sacks the Raiders defense produced in a game since the 2010 NFL season.

Raiders rookie defensive end Tyree Wilson ended the game being one of those defensive players with a sack against the Giants. Wilson finished the game with three solo tackles, one assist and a half sack against the Giants.

Interim Coach Antonio Pierce had the opportunity to share his thoughts on Wilson on Monday after the Raiders' 30-6 week nine victory.

"Yeah, I think we've all seen the progress he's made," Pierce said. "It first started with just get out of the stance, so we worked on that. And obviously, he's a big human being, very talented. He's going to be a good football player in his league. But this league is very humbling, you just don't walk in day one and become the guy. And I think he's now embraced the process of working every day.

"You watch a guy like Maxx Crosby come out to practice, or Tae [Davante Adams] come out to practice early, and getting those extra reps. Well, you see him doing that as well. I know he had half a sack yesterday, but more importantly is what he does for us in the running game, how vital he is in setting the edge. Obviously, there's still more growth there for him, but he's a guy who has the right attitude to come to work. And I think he's been humbled about his early experience, that coaching comes a lot easier when you get humbled."

Wilson is halfway through his first season with the Raiders and will continue to be a factor on the Silver and Black defense.

The Silver and Black will stay at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the New York Jets on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 8:20 p.m. EST/5:20 p.m. PST.
