QB Wilson to Potentially Meet with the Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have been rumored to be interested in many quarterbacks this offseason and veteran quarterback Russell Wilson has been linked to the Raiders.

The Las Vegas Raiders recently announced they would have a  competition for their starting position between Aidan O'Connell and another quarterback who has yet to be signed to the team.

It was recently reported that the Denver Broncos would officially part ways with quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason, leaving the door open for Wilson to sign with a team of his choice.

While Wilson has met with multiple teams in search of his next destination, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the veteran quarterback could also meet with the Silver and Black about joining an offensive roster with talent that needs consistent quarterback play.

Wilson, of course, should be able to help with improving the offense.

The Raiders should undoubtedly meet with Wilson and discuss his potential to join the team. He could be a competent starter for the next season or two.

Or, he could be a solid veteran presence behind O'Connell, which the young quarterback didn't have during his first season in the NFL, one of the most turmoil-filled seasons of any team in the league.

While the Raiders have many options for addressing the quarterback position, they will definitely add a quarterback sometime this offseason.

Considering his experience and the relatively low risk associated with signing him, it makes sense for the Raiders to meet with Wilson to see how he could help them.

The Raiders could also sign Wilson and draft another young quarterback in the mid to late rounds of the NFL Draft. Assuming they draft a solid quarterback, they would have three legitimate quarterback options on their roster.

If the Raiders decide to go that route, they could solidify their quarterback position and use the 13th overall pick in this year's draft to address one of the other needs on their roster with a top prospect. They could do so without mortgaging their future on a single quarterback prospect who may or may not work out.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
