Raiders HC Klint Kubiak Was Made for This Moment

In this story:
After an extended process, the Las Vegas Raiders got the man they wanted for their vacant head coaching position. In Kubiak, the Raiders have a young head coach who proved, as recently as the 2025 season, that he knows what it takes to produce a successful offense.

Kubiak's Rise
The Raiders hired Klint Kubiak, as he has proven capable of doing many of the things Las Vegas has struggled to do offensively lately. Las Vegas' offense has needed to improve its roster, but coaching has also been one of the Raiders' downfalls over the past three seasons.
Kubiak's rise has given him experience in less-than-ideal situations and situations where he had the roster and overall supporting cast to help boost his natural coaching abilities. After improving their roster and with more improvements on the way, Las Vegas is in the middle of both situations.

During his rise up the coaching ranks, Kubiak spent over a decade coaching professionally and multiple years coaching on the collegiate level. The Raiders' front office is banking on Kubiak to produce. Kubiak recently gave insight into what made him decide to become a coach.
“There’s no one thing, just getting to be around a lot of really, really good coaches. I think Norv Turner stands out, getting to work with him with the Vikings, and see the way that he runs a team, to see the way that he runs an offense. That was a really impactful year for me in Minnesota," Kubiak said at the NFL Owners' Meetings.

Yet, Kubiak's rise up the ranks technically began well before he ever reached the professional ranks. As the son of a well-respected former head coach, Gary Kubiak, Klint was no stranger to the life of a coach in the National Football League. He noted his glimpses into the life almost scared him off.
“It took a lot of time. I didn't want to be a coach. I saw the hours that he worked, and I loved playing. I was going to go play in the NFL for 20 years, like everybody probably dreams of, like we all did. But then I graduated from college and got into it as a graduate assistant, and just really fell in love with being a coach.”

After years of working his way up the coaching ranks, Kubiak now gets his shot to be a head coach. He does so with one of the most storied franchises in all of sports. In Las Vegas, Kubiak has a chance to revive a respected organization that has not won much over the past decade.
Still, the fact that he was eager to take on a task that has seen many head coaches come and go for various reasons, is noteworthy for Kubiak and the Raiders. Las Vegas has had its fair share of shortcomings from the front office down to the roster itself.
