Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: Tackle Suamataia of BYU

The Las Vegas Raiders should select an offensive tackle by the end of Round 3 in the NFL Draft. Kingsley Suamataia of BYU would be a great addition if he is still available.

There's a good chance the top-five offensive tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft will be off the board by the start of Day 2.

That means the Las Vegas Raiders, who should prioritize drafting an offensive tackle in this draft, will need to select one early if they want one of the best. 

If Las Vegas uses its first-round pick on a quarterback or another position, it should really focus on drafting an offensive tackle early on Day 2. 

Offensive tackle Kingsley Suamatai of BYU is an early Day 2-caliber prospect who could be exactly what the Raiders are looking for in the second or third rounds.

Suamatai played 11 games at left tackle for BYU last season. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 66.4 and a pass-blocking grade of 83.4 for the 2023 season. Suamatai was selected to the 2023 All-Big 12 Second Team.

Last season, Suamatai moved over to left tackle after making 12 starts at right tackle the season before. He allowed no sacks and helped lead a BYU offense that finished top 50 in the nation in scoring at 31.3 points per game, in passing at 249.7 passing yards per game, in rushing at 176.6 rushing yards per game, and in total offense at 426.3 yards per game.

Suamatai was selected to the College Football Network All-Independent First Team.

PFF also gave Suamatai an overall grade of 75.8 for his 2022 campaign.

Suamatai transferred to BYU from Oregon, where he spent only one year, redshirting his freshman season and playing in one game. He entered Oregon rated as a five-star recruit by 247Sports after helping lead Orem High School to four straight state titles.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
