We're now past the midway point of the 2023 NFL season, and with every passing week, each team gets closer to its fate.

The Las Vegas Raiders are a game below .500 and in third place in the AFC West. With the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, once again running away with the No. 1 spot in the division, it will likely be a race for second place the rest of the season.

A lot will be determined this week.

The Raiders have a chance to get back to .500 with a victory over the New York Jets in a Sunday Night Football game, while the Los Angeles Chargers have the perfect opportunity to make a statement at home against one of the best teams in the NFC, the Detroit Lions.

Then, of course, there are the Denver Broncos, who, after starting 1-5, have a chance to earn their third straight victory when they face the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.

Kansas City has a bye.

Here's what to look for from the Chargers' and Broncos' games:

Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are beginning to find their stride after a slow start to this 2023 season. Like Denver, they too will be searching for a third consecutive victory when they welcome the Lions to town for their first home game of the month.

Los Angeles comes off a 27-6 Monday night win over the New York Jets, in which the Chargers' defense stole the show.

Despite starting the season as one of the more dominant passing teams in the league, the Chargers have fallen out of the top 10 in the category. Their offense has averaged over 300 yards over its last three games.

Detroit, meanwhile, is second in the league in offensive yards per game at 390.6. The Lions also are top-five in defense, allowing only 296.9 yards per game.

Sunday will be quite the test for the Chargers, but a two-game winning streak and a return to their home field will give them momentum.

Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills

A few weeks ago, this would not have been considered a contest, but after Denver routed the Chiefs, 24-9, right before its bye week, it's safe to say the Broncos can defeat anyone in this league.

That is remarkable, considering Denver is last in the league in total defense and just above the bottom quarter in total offense.

Buffalo's offensive strength is its passing, an area in which it ranks at the top in the NFL. Unfortunately, the Broncos are ranked 27th in the league in passing defense. Again, that did not stop them against a top-three passing offense in Kansas City only a couple of weeks ago.

Ultimately, this game should depend on which Broncos team we get to see on Monday night.

The Silver and Black will remain at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the New York Jets on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 8:20 p.m. EST/5:20 p.m. PST.
