Coach Antonio Pierce Looking to Educate Himself on his O-Line

In this story:
A good head coach knows his whole team, regardless of his position specialty.
Las Vegas Raiders Interim Coach Antonio Pierce is making an effort to learn his offensive line group, a room he recognizes is much underrated in the grand scheme of things.
Lately, Pierce has been sitting in on offensive line meetings, working to expand his knowledge on the position group.
"I love the big boys, man, because like I said, again, being a former player, you understood what was in front of me was my protection," Pierce told reporters on Friday. "And when I watch these guys and what I watched, what I saw the other night -- what I think the world saw -- with our offensive line [was] their mindset: when they make up their mind and they want to come off the ball and tee off and protect the quarterback, we can. We can.
"And it's good to be in there with those guys because they never get talked about, right? Jermaine [Eluemunor] doesn't get talked about enough. Andre [James].
"The only thing we talk about is when they make a mistake. But nobody talks about the game they just had the other day. ... But also, I need to get to know their terminology.
"I'm in a foreign class, right? I got my notebook out; I've been working on my other Master's here. It's French and Italian all mixed in one.
"So, just getting the language from our offense and understanding how -- really the psyche of our O-line. I want to know that. Like, what are they really thinking?
"What's their mentality? What's their thought process? And that's working."
Pierce was a linebackers coach before moving to his new role. He played linebacker in his nine seasons in the NFL, won a Super Bowl title and was selected to one Pro Bowl.
The Silver and Black will remain at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the New York Jets on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 8:20 p.m. EST/5:20 p.m. PST.
