Raiders' Brian Hoyer's Key to Longevity

In this story:
In the NFL, it's rare for a player to pass the decade mark.
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Brian Hoyer is going into his 15th NFL season and his first with the Silver and Black.
On Wednesday, Bolden told media members how he manages to stay healthy enough to return year after year.
"As I've gotten older, I've had to take care of my feet a lot more," the veteran Bolden said. "So I'm always kind of experimenting. I actually have a guy who makes some custom turf shoes for me, and it's something that's really helped me really since I was in San Francisco. It was actually Kyle Shanahan's idea because he's always talking about having a good base underneath you. And he goes: 'If you go our turf shoes on grass and keep your base underneath you, that means you're always in a good position to throw.' And it's just something I've taken with me. I think it forces me not to overextend, over-stride, but also it's a little more cushion instead of these hard cleats all the time."
Hoyer signed as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots in 2009. He spent three different stints in New England, altogether having been a Patriot for seven-plus seasons.
Hoyer also played with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and the Indianapolis Colts.
The veteran quarterback has passed for 10,668 yards and 53 touchdowns in his career.
The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
