Raiders to Have Their Latest Bye Week in Super Bowl Era

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders have never had a regular-season bye week any later than Week 10 of the NFL season.
That will change in the 2023-24 campaign as Las Vegas is scheduled for a bye in Week 13.
The club will be joined by the Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, and Minnesota Vikings, as all five teams will have byes that week.
The final NFL bye week will come the following week, Week 14.
The closest the Raiders have ever come to a bye week that late in the season (post NFL-American Football League merger) was in the 2017, 2016, 2010, 2004, and 1991, all of which were in Week 10.
The Raiders did have a bye week in Week 11 of the 1967 season, which was before the merger.
This 2023-24 bye week, in particular, could be a big advantage for the Raiders.
It will follow their Week 12 showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs, which, if history tells us anything, could more than likely be a tally in the loss column. A break the following week could be much-needed.
On the other hand, Las Vegas will be at home, and the club's following two games will be at Allegiant Stadium as well.
Staying put in Sin City for four straight weeks at a critical stretch in the season could be huge for the Raiders' momentum going into the final three weeks.
Las Vegas will then return home for the final game of the regular season when the Raiders host the Denver Broncos, who they begin the season against as well.
In total, the Raiders will have nine games at Allegiant Stadium this upcoming season.

The AFL had at least one bye week as part of its 15-week schedule from its inaugural 1960 season to 1962, 1964-1966, and 1968. The 1969 season, which was its last, consisted of a 14-week season. The 1963 season spanned 16 weeks, while the 1967 season went for 17 weeks.
