According to sources, the Las Vegas Raiders released veteran defensive lineman Chandler Jones on Saturday, following Jones' arrest late Thursday night in Las Vegas.

Jones was charged with two separate counts of violation of a domestic violence protection order.

Jones has been away from the team since the beginning of the season and he was placed on the NFI list earlier in September. He was expected to be a key piece to the Raiders' plans on defense this season.

Jones, has been inactive, but has made plenty of news off the field, with a series of troubling social media posts in recent weeks. In one of the social media posts, Jones claimed to have been taken to the hospital against his will.

The four-time Pro Bowl defensive end was slated to begin his second season with the Raiders after registering 21 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles during his lone season with in Las Vegas.

Jones began his career with the New England Patriots, where he spent his first four seasons in the NFL. After New England, Jones spent the following four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, with a small stint with the Detroit Lions at the end of the 2020 season. Last offseason, Las Vegas signed Jones to a three-year, $51-million deal.

Jones has 511 tackles and 112 sacks in his career and was one of the many former New England Patriots brought in to help Coach Josh McDaniels mold the team and organization into his vision.

The Raiders released the following statement regarding Jones' arrest. According to Clark County court records, Jones posted bond Friday and is expected to be back in court on Dec. 4.

The Silver and Black return to the road this week in Inglewood, Calif., to play the Los Angeles Chargers (1-2) on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4:05 p.m. EDT/1:05 p.m. PDT.
