The Las Vegas Raiders want to carry their winning momentum into Soldier Field as they take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The Bears have struggled on both sides of the ball this season, especially defensively. Their run defense has held up well enough, but they will face their biggest test this Sunday.

Running back Josh Jacobs has started to pick up his pace after a slow first few weeks of the season. After being away from the team in the offseason, Jacobs has appeared to shake off the rust and has shown flashes of being the player he was in 2022.

With quarterback Brian Hoyer set to start the game with Jimmy Garoppolo out, the Raiders might lean heavily on Jacobs to carry them to a victory. He has done that before, so it is not unfamiliar territory to Jacobs to dictate the offense.

The Bears have allowed the eighth-fewest rushing yards in the NFL this season, but have not yet faced a running back of Jacobs’ caliber. As he is the best running back they will see at this point in the season, and as Jacobs starts to round into form, he could be in for a big game on Sunday.

The Bears’ defensive line features former Raider defensive tackle Andrew Billings, defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, and rookies Gervon Dexter Sr. and Zacch Pickens. Despite how well they have played as a unit, there is no true game-wrecker on the Bears’ defensive line.

The area where the Bears’ run defense has been impressive is because of linebackers T.J. Edwards and Jack Sanborn. Those two have combined for 99 tackles this season, and each has high run defense grades from Pro Football Focus. Jacobs will need to make those guys miss and get to the next level of the defense.

As Jacobs’ carries increase this season, his yards have also increased. He posted a season-high 25 carries for 77 yards last week and could see those numbers increase again.

The Raiders need Jacobs to get going to unlock their offensive efficiency, and he has a chance to get that started on Sunday.

The Silver and Black will head out on the road to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
