Raiders Signing Running Back Damien Williams

The Las Vegas Raiders are adding more depth to their running back room.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported Friday that the Raiders are signing former Atlanta Falcons running back Damien Williams.

Williams comes off one-year stints with the Falcons (2022) and the Chicago Bears (2021), having appeared in only 13 games between the two. He sustained a rib injury in Week 1 of last season that would put him on Injured Reserve until Atlanta released him in December.

Before Chicago, Williams spent two years with the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he won a Super Bowl. Many believe Williams should have been the MVP of that Super Bowl (LIV), as he finished with 104 rushing yards, a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown.

That game, along with his 129-rushing-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Indianapolis Colts in the 2018-19 Divisional Round, earned him the nickname "Playoff Damien."

While Williams hasn't seen a ton of action over the last two seasons, his best campaign came just three years ago when he totaled 498 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, as well as 213 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. He made a career-best six starts that season.

Williams spent the bulk of his nine-year career with the Miami Dolphins, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He spent four seasons with Miami, having ultimately made only four starts, all of which came in his final season with the team.

Williams has totaled 1,397 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns to go along with 1,209 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns in his career.
