Raiders Yet Again Limit Davante Adams' Potential

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams had only one reception for 11 yards in a 26-14 loss to the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.

The Las Vegas Raiders' loss to the Detroit Lions on Monday was more of the same regarding recurring issues.

One major one continues to be the inability to get their star wide receiver, Davante Adams, involved in the offense.

Adams finished the game with only one reception for 11 yards, despite being targeted seven times. A few of those opportunities, of course, should have been very big plays, ones that could have changed the momentum and even the outcome of the game.

But once again, the execution simply wasn't there.

Adams, who has strongly expressed his frustration after losses this season, was frustrated beyond words this time.

"I honestly -- I don't know what to say at this moment," Adams told reporters after the loss. "I truly don't. I wish I had the words to say something that's not going to get blown up in the media and taken out of context. 

"So, I'm going to just -- I truly, I just don't know."

Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels was well aware that much of the lack in production was out of Adams' control.

"I mean, look, he can do what he can do," McDaniels said. "And I said this before: Receivers obviously are -- they're the last in the chain. And they've got to do their job, but there are a lot of things that have to happen before the ball gets to them. 

"And I thought he had -- he got himself open a handful of times and had a few opportunities. And we got one tipped, overthrew a couple that would have been maybe big plays, but look, at the end of the day, you've just got to keep working and try to do your job the best you can. We can't control one another's jobs, but we have to try to work and continue to improve each one of us, and I think he does that. 

"I thought he had a great week of practice, and he'll continue to do that; I know that. He's a true pro."

The Silver and Black will return to Allegiant Stadium to take on the New York Giants on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 4:25 p.m. EST/1:25 p.m. PST.
