Ziegler More Comfortable Approaching Draft Compared to Last Year

Las Vegas Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler is entering his second NFL Draft as a member of the club's front office.

With 12 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, including No. 7 overall, the Las Vegas Raiders have a chance to make a lot of noise to add to what has already been a very active offseason.

It's a much different story for Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler than it was last year, as he and his staff did not have the opportunity to draft until the third round.

Fortunately, Ziegler feels more comfortable this time around.

"Any time you're in the first year on the job, there's a lot of different things to get used to," Ziegler said when he addressed the media on Friday. "Last year was the first time I had worked with our group going through this process, and now we're kind of in year two, and so, you have a little bit of a better understanding. The guys have a little bit of a better understanding of what we're looking for. 

"So there was less teaching going on, more just getting into the nuts and bolts of the film, the nuts and bolts of the evaluation process. Many more people speaking the same language and things of that nature. And so that all has led to just a more comfortable, and I'd say, clear, fluid process for us. And again, it doesn't guarantee any results, but we definitely feel confident in what we've done, and I feel confident in the group that we have and the level of comfort is high."

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.
