Raiders' WR Room Among League's Most Expensive

In this story:
General Manager Dave Ziegler and the Las Vegas Raiders know how important wide receivers are in today’s NFL, as the league-wide philosophy has shifted to being pass-heavy.
In fact, Ziegler knew this very early on in his tenure in Las Vegas, as he made a blockbuster deal to acquire All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams after only eight weeks on the job, and immediately gave him a five-year, $141-million contract.
The three most important positions on offense are arguably quarterback, left tackle, and wide receiver. The Raiders have their answer at all three of those positions.
NFL analyst Warren Sharp recently sent out a Tweet looking at how expensive each team’s wide receiver room is, and the Raiders’ receiver room was the second-most expensive.
The Raiders have allocated $43 million of their cap space to their wide receivers. Only their division rival, the Denver Broncos, are spending more on their receivers at $44 million.
While roughly a third of this cap allocation is going toward Adams, it still is notable that the Raiders are second-highest on the list. Hunter Renfrow is the second-highest paid receiver on the Raiders at a little more than $13 million cap dollars.
Jakobi Meyers counts for nearly $7.3 million cap dollars, and no other Raiders receiver counts for more than $1.5 million.
The rest of the Raiders’ wide receiver room is made up of veterans on one-year contracts, including Keelan Cole, DeAndre Carter, Cam Sims and Phillip Dorsett. They also have Tre Tucker on a rookie contract.
Some of the best offenses in the NFL feature star wide receivers, and the Raiders are hoping to be one of the league’s best offenses with Adams leading the way, and Renfrow and Meyers as productive ancillary pieces.
The Raiders have a formidable wide receiver trio with Adams, Renfrow and Meyers, as they look to build a passing attack around new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who reunites with Coach Josh McDaniels and his system.
As the Raiders look to return to the playoffs in 2023, their passing attack will go as far as Adams takes them, and they are paying him to take them far.
