Broncos Safety Says Raiders are 'Stacked With Talent'

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders will take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday to kick off the 2023 regular season.
The Raiders have had lots of success against their AFC West opponents recently, and a big reason for that success has been due to their star players on offense.
The Raiders have two of the best players in the league at their respective positions -- wide receiver Davante Adams and running back Josh Jacobs. Both players put up dominant performances in both games against the Broncos last season.
Broncos’ safety Justin Simmons, who is also one of the best players in the league at his respective position, knows how talented the Raiders are on offense and mentioned both Jacobs and Adams by name when he addressed the media on Wednesday.
“They’re stacked with talent,” Simmons said. “I mean, obviously, with [Josh] Jacobs coming back, leading the league in rushing, he had a heck of a year last year, and I’m sure he’ll have another heck of a year this year. But obviously, it’s going to be a big part of our game plan, helping stop -- gotta stop the run. Any good offense knows that you run the ball really well, it just opens up the rest of the game.
"And then, obviously, they have arguably one of the best receivers, if not best receiver in [Davante] Adams and a plethora of other guys. So, this is going to be a big task for us defensively, but that’s what we get paid to do. We've gotta go out there and find ways to get takeaways for our offense to set them up on the short field, and it’s going to be a big challenge for us.”
In two games against the Broncos in 2022, Jacobs rushed 52 times for 253 yards and two touchdowns, including a touchdown late in the fourth quarter at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to seal a Raiders victory.
Adams caught 16 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns against the Broncos last season, including a walk-off, 35-yard touchdown in overtime.
The Raiders will once again look to Jacobs and Adams to engineer their offense against their divisional opponent, and Simmons knows there is a difficult task ahead slowing down both those players.
The Silver and Black open the regular season at the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 4:25 p.m. EDT/1:25 p.m. PDT.
