Two Raiders Who Shined in 17-16 Win Over Broncos

The Las Vegas Raiders went into Mile High Stadium and left with a 17-16 victory over the Denver Broncos.

There were lots of Raiders who overall played phenomenal against the Denver Broncos. However, Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo shined overall on the Raiders offense in their first game with the Silver and Black.

The Raiders signed Meyers this offseason as the new Raiders' wide receiver two. Meyers spent quality seasons with the New England Patriots before signing with the Raiders.

Meyers finished the game with nine receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns. One of Meyers touchdowns came at 6:34 left in the game and gave the Raiders a 17-16 lead.

During the game, Meyers also took a hard shot to the head a neck area late in the fourth quarter. The hit lead to an unnecessary roughness call and Meyers soon later got off the field and made his way back to the locker room.

It was safe to say that quarterback Garoppolo's favorite target against the Broncos was Meyers. Jimmy G also had a phenomenal performance in his first regular season start with the Silver and Black.

Garoppolo finished the game by completing 20-of-26 passes for a total of 200 yards. He also threw two touchdown passes to Meyers. Garoppolo finished the game with a 107.9 QB rating, as well.

Garoppolo also took advantage in the running game against the Broncos as well. He ended the game with a clutch eight-yard run that led to a Raiders first down that sealed the deal in a Silver and Black divisional week one victory.

The Raiders have won seven straight games over the Broncos. The teams will face each other again on week 17 in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The Raiders will travel to Orchard Park, N.Y., to take on the Buffalo Bills Week 2 of the Raiders 2023-24 NFL regular season.

The Silver and Black remain on the road next week as they travel to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
