Raiders Quarterback Situation Faces Uncertainty

In this story:
As the Las Vegas Raiders look ahead to their offseason, the biggest story that has been building should finally conclude one way or another; quarterback Derek Carr’s time as a Raider is ending in the coming days.
Carr has already said he will not accept a trade to the New Orleans Saints or any other team so the Raiders will have no choice but to release him. The Saints are the favorite to land Carr once he hits the open market, but other teams are expected to pursue him.
Carr spent nine years with the Raiders organization, starting 142 games and passing for 35,222 yards and 217 touchdowns against 99 interceptions. He won 63 games as a member of the Raiders.
Now that the Carr era has ended, General Manager Dave Ziegler and the Raiders will turn their attention to finding his replacement. The last Raider quarterback not named Derek Carr to start week one was Terrelle Pryor in 2013, so finding a replacement for someone who was the face of the position for the Silver and Black will not be easy.
As the offseason gets underway, the Raiders have been linked to many different quarterbacks. They were a potential landing spot for Tom Brady, but he has since retired -- for good this time -- and is no longer an option. Aaron Rodgers is a popular name among fans, as his former teammate Davante Adams has been recruiting him to Las Vegas.
The replacement may come in-house in the form of Jarrett Stidham, as the fourth-year quarterback has spent his entire career under Coach Josh McDaniels, dating to their days in New England with the Patriots.
It could come in the form of a pick in the NFL Draft, as the Raiders could select a quarterback in the later rounds and develop him into a starter down the line. It’s hard to envision McDaniels wanting to spend time developing a quarterback when the Raiders are trying to win now.
Whatever way the Raiders go at quarterback this season, one thing is certain: they’re going to have a tough time replacing a long-time starter and face of the franchise in a player like Derek Carr.
