The Las Vegas Raiders made a flurry of signings on Monday, including a couple of pass catchers.

One of those players was former Washington Commanders wide receiver Cam Sims. The team has reportedly signed Sims to a one-year deal, according to Ben Standig of The Athletic.

Sims adds depth to the wide receiver room and solid special teams play. The Raiders added Sims to replace Mack Hollins, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Sims was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama and signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent. After only appearing in eight games in his first two seasons, Sims broke out during the 2020 season, catching 32 passes for 477 yards and a touchdown.

This past season, Sims caught eight passes for 89 yards. In his five-year career with Washington, he caught 57 passes for 804 yards and three touchdowns.

Sims was mostly a third or fourth receiver in Washington, and he’ll likely play a similar role with the Raiders behind Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow. He stands at a similar frame to Hollins, a massive 6-5 and 220 pounds.

The Raiders added multiple pass catchers on Sunday, including tight end O.J. Howard and one of their free agents, wide receiver Keelan Cole. They have made an effort to put weapons around new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

General Manager Dave Ziegler has been one of the most aggressive players in free agency this offseason, whether it be adding players from around the league or re-signing his free agents.

Sims is an underrated signing. Only 27 years old, he will get a chance to play with Garoppolo in a system that will put him in a position to be successful.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
