Free agency has wound down and most of the top names have come off the board. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t still quality players on the market who could be had for a reasonable price.

The Las Vegas Raiders could still add to the defensive side of the ball, namely at the linebacker position. They added Robert Spillane, but they could still add some depth to a position that needs it after losing Denzel Perryman.

One player who could help them fill that depth and provide some veteran leadership is former Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns linebacker Deion Jones, who had a solid season in Cleveland after being traded from Atlanta.

Let’s take a closer look at Jones and see if he would be a good fit in the Silver and Black.

Jones was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Falcons out of LSU. In his time in Atlanta, he was one of the most underrated linebackers in the NFL. Jones posted 652 tackles, 40 tackles for losses, eight and a half sacks, and 12 interceptions. He was named a Pro Bowler in the 2017 season.

Jones has since lost a little bit of his juice, but still managed to post 44 tackles, six tackles for losses, two and a half sacks and an interception in 11 games for the Browns after being traded in October.

While he isn’t the player he used to be, Jones is still one of the faster linebackers in the game and is very good in coverage. In his rookie season, he recorded two pick-sixes, which led the NFL.

Deion Jones is still a player capable of playing a high number of snaps, but he could also be a quality player in a reserve role. General Manager Dave Ziegler would not necessarily have to break the bank for him, either. If the Raiders want to address the linebacker position again, Jones could fill that role.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this offseason.
