The Las Vegas Raiders have begun evaluating every part of their roster and looking for ways to upgrade it as free agency approaches next month.

One part of the team they will focus on improving is their defense at all three levels. One of those levels is the linebacker position.

Good linebacker play can turn a good defense into a great one, and the Raiders are going to be on the lookout for good linebackers in free agency, as they currently have five linebackers slated to be free agents, including Denzel Perryman and Jayon Brown.

A linebacker set to hit free agency the Raiders could be interested in is the Philadelphia Eagles’ Kyzir White. White is fresh off a Super Bowl appearance with the Eagles, a game in which he posted four tackles.

Let’s look at Kyzir White’s career and see if he would fit in the Silver and Black.

White was selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers out of West Virginia. He was drafted as a safety but bulked up enough to move to linebacker in the NFL.

In his career with the Chargers, White posted 278 total tackles, 13 tackles for losses, and four interceptions. He had an excellent 2021 season with 144 total tackles, seven tackles for losses, and two interceptions.

After the Chargers decided not to re-sign him, White signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He started only eight games and appeared in a more rotational role instead of being heavily featured. White posted 110 tackles, three for losses, and career-high one-and-a-half sacks with the NFC Champions.

White could be an attractive option for the Raiders and General Manager Dave Ziegler due to his positional versatility. He is a speedy linebacker who can fly around the field and make plays. He is different from a typical Patrick Graham-style linebacker but can be used all over the field.

White will likely be on the expensive side after back-to-back 100-tackle seasons, so if the Raiders want to improve their linebacker play with an underrated, quality signing, he could be their guy.

The NFL Scouting Combine is Feb. 28-March 6, 2023, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. March 7, 2023, before 4 p.m. EST, is the club's deadline to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 13-15 is the free agent negotiation period. During that time, starting at 12 p.m. EDT on March 13 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2022 Player Contracts at 4 p.m EDT on March 15.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period begins at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
