The Las Vegas Raiders have added a new asset to their staff.

The Raiders announced on Friday that they have hired former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Scott Turner to serve as the team's new passing game coordinator.

Turner held the position of offensive coordinator for three seasons with the Commanders.

His offense was never ranked in the top half of the league.

Before his time with Washington, Turner was the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers for the 2019 season.

Turner worked with Carolina before as an offensive quality control coach, his first job in the NFL, and also as a quarterbacks coach for the Panthers in the 2019 and 2018 seasons.

The 40-year-old coach was an offensive analyst at the University of Michigan for the 2017 college football season and was the quarterback's coach of the Minnesota Vikings for three seasons.

Before being in Minnesota, Turner had a one-year stint (2013) as wide receivers coach of the Cleveland Browns.

Turner is very familiar with Las Vegas, having started his coaching career at his alma mater, UNLV, where he was a graduate assistant for one season.

Turner was a backup quarterback for the Rebels during the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

His father, Norv Turner, is a former NFL offensive coordinator and head coach and was coach of the Raiders for two seasons (2004 and 2005).
