New Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is joining another club for the first time in his NFL career after spending four seasons in New England.

Meyers felt the Raiders would be the best fit during his free-agency process, especially because of their talented receiving corps.

"The times that I talked to them, they always made me feel like they wanted me here," Meyers said when he joined "Upon Further Review" last month. "And then also, just the receiver room. Just, it's a great guy in there to chase, another great guy in there to also compete with, you know what I mean? So you just really want to be in that room and grow as a player. So that's probably the biggest reason. Just for my growth, I knew I wanted to be around those guys as I try to get better every day."

Of course, one of the most intriguing factors that had Meyers' attention was the leadership of Coach Josh McDaniels, his former offensive coordinator in New England.

"Coach, he was there for my first day," Meyers said. "First day in the league, he was there, he was coaching me. He helped me grow as a person, so I just knew if I got back in that system, at the end of the day, I would be getting better every day. I knew he would be hard on me every day, so I'm excited to be with him."

Meyers said that the "details" make McDaniels' offense work.

"That's probably the No. 1 word right there," the wideout said. "Because the details, he makes sure you're ready for the game. You know exactly what you would do in this situation, what you would do in that situation, who you're going against, you've just got to execute when you get there. So he makes it easy, you just got to go out there and do your job."

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this offseason.
