Jimmy G is All Too Familiar With Facing Aaron Donald

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has compete against some of the best of the best in the NFL, having played in both the AFC and NFC in his nine seasons.

During his years with the San Francisco 49ers, Garoppolo had the challenge of facing a couple of the greatest defensive linemen to ever play the game in the NFC West: former Arizona Cardinals edge rusher J.J. Watt and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

While Watt retired from the NFL after 12 seasons this offseason, even with his new team, Garoppolo still finds himself going up against the titan that is Donald.

The three-time Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year gave the Raiders all they could handle in their two joint practices with the Rams this week, a test that can only help Garoppolo and the Las Vegas O-line as the regular season nears.

"AD's -- he's a special talent, man," Garoppolo told reporters after Thursday's joint practice. "I mean, going against him twice a year these last couple of years, I've seen it firsthand. And so, we had a plan for him. Dude's all-world man. He really is. And so, he doesn't get enough credit for it, I think. But he's hell of a player."

Fortunately for Garoppolo, the veteran quarterback didn't have to worry about taking any hits from Donald whenever he got into the backfield.

"I got a red jersey on out here [laughter]," Garoppolo said. "So, it's a little different out here. When the real game comes, obviously, you got to account for him. But it's a good challenge for us. It changes things up; it was different from San Francisco last week. We didn't have to do that so much. So, that's how the NFL goes. One week's different than the next, and you just got to be able to adjust on the fly and roll with it."
