Chemistry Between Garoppolo, Adams Will Be Crucial

The Las Vegas Raiders’ new starting quarterback for 2023 will be Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo will join the third team of his career, and reunite with Coach Josh McDaniels, with whom he spent the first few seasons of his career.

A new team means new teammates, and how quickly Garoppolo assimilates with the Raiders will be crucial in determining their success. However, even if he doesn’t gel with them immediately, the system will allow Garoppolo to look comfortable early in the season.

One teammate who Garoppolo will have to develop chemistry with quickly is star wide receiver Davante Adams, whose way Garoppolo will likely look often. If those two can develop a quick rapport, the Raiders’ offense will be humming early on.

Garoppolo has never been afraid to target his star players, and he should continue to do so with Adams, who will have his third quarterback in as many years. He spent the first eight seasons of his career with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, and last season with Derek Carr, who Adams also played with in college at Fresno State.

Garoppolo will be a fairly new experience for Adams, and their play styles are also quite different. Garoppolo is not a quarterback who fires downfield very often, and Adams is a receiver who thrives when he is stretching the field.

The chemistry between a team’s starting quarterback and star pass catcher is crucial, and it is something that the Raiders will need. Garoppolo’s health will be an important factor here as well, because if he misses any time, he won’t be able to get into a groove with Adams.

Adams’ talent should allow for Garoppolo to get comfortable quickly, as he catches almost everything thrown his way. The best way for a quarterback to develop trust in his receivers is for them to not drop the ball.

The chemistry Garoppolo and Adams develop – and how quickly they develop it – will be a crucial factor in how successful the Raiders are going to be offensively. If they are connecting early, it can set the tone for the rest of the team and potentially impact wins.
