Garoppolo's Tendencies Rubbed Some the Wrong Way

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo last offseason with the expectation that the veteran quarterback would bounce back from his foot injury and at least be a serviceable replacement for Derek Carr.
The Raiders essentially got the exact opposite from Garoppolo, as the quarterback was routinely the cause of inexplicable turnovers. It could be argued that Garoppolo never looked fully recovered physically or mentally from his injury last season.
Through the first eight games of the season, Garoppolo single-handedly lost multiple games for the Raiders. His inability to cut down on his turnovers or stretch the field for the Raiders' offense greatly hindered the Silver and Black.
To make matters worse, according to NFL Insider Albert Breer, some of Garoppolo's tendencies off the field, which the Raiders hoped would come to an end, didn't.
Breer says some of the same traits that led to Garoppolo's rocky end with the San Francisco 49ers continued after the veteran quarterback signed with the Raiders.
"Garoppolo had a reputation for being aloof in San Francisco, which would drive detail-oriented Coach Kyle Shanahan nuts," Breer said. "Particularly when, at points of the offseason, the Niners would have trouble getting ahold of him.
"Some of those problems carried over to Vegas, where a group that knew him, led by General Manager Dave Ziegler and Coach Josh McDaniels, had hoped he’d grow out of some of those tendencies."
While he likely will get another shot with a different team because of Garoppolo's misfortune during this season and the offseason, Breer isn't too sure about Garoppolo's future.
"Add it up, and that's why I'm not sure he really fits anywhere as a backup," Breer said. "You need your backup to be locked in, and you need him to be healthy. There would be concerns, again, fair or not, based on his reputation and history in both those areas."
From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
