In this story:

The Las Vegas Raiders have made the two most challenging decisions they had to make this offseason.

They Raiders hired Tom Telesco as their general manager and made Antonio Pierce their head coach. Now, the Raiders must decide on another critical piece of their organization moving forward.

Assuming Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham remains with the team, the next most important spot the Raiders will have to fill is their offensive coordinator position after their offense struggled in the last two seasons.

Las Vegas' offense entered this season as one of the most talented in the league at their skill positions. Still, inconsistent quarterback play, injuries and questionable play-calling doomed what was one of the highest-paid offenses in the National Football League.

The Raiders fired Coach Josh McDaniels for multiple reasons, but it could be argued that had his offense been more productive, many things would've gone better.

The offense was supposed to be a strength for the Raiders this season, but ended up being their most significant liability.

The Raiders' inability to move the ball, let alone score consistently, routinely hurt Las Vegas this season and cost them multiple games. There were games where Las Vegas' defense scored as many points or scored more points than the offense.

Bo Hardegree was promoted to interim offensive coordinator after the Raiders fired McDaniels, and although the offense improved somewhat under Hardegree with rookie Aidan O'Connell at quarterback, the Silver and Black certainly need another offensive play-caller.

More than a few names have been linked to the opening for the Raiders, and they will make that decision soon. With the defensive side of the ball relatively solidified, the Raiders must be sure to find the right offensive coordinator.

This season proved it doesn't matter how much the defense improves if the offense is nonexistent. Pierce and the Raiders deserve a competent offense and offensive coordinator to pair with a defense on the rise.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
