A bit over a week after former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr apologized for not giving the Raiders his all in his final season, the veteran quarterback opened up about his thoughts on being benched for the final two games of last season.

"I was, for lack of a better term, I was very upset; I was mad," Carr said via the Fresno Bee. “You spend nine years in a place, you have all the records and you can play at a high level and for something to get in the way, whether it was whatever reason, money related or whatever, injury related, I would have said I don’t even want the money, just to play two more times in front of our fans. I didn’t get that opportunity. So it definitely lit a fire inside me to keep going."

It's been months since Carr signed with his new team, the New Orleans Saints, but the longtime Raiders quarterback's latest comments just keep shedding light on a situation that Coach Josh McDaniels surely wants to move on from.

But until he finds success with a quarterback while he holds a head coaching role, it seems that many won't let the second-year Raiders coach live it down.

While discussing Carr's comments on "The Herd With Colin Cowherd" on Tuesday, hosts Colin Cowherd and Jason McIntyre did not hold back on McDaniels and his track record coaching quarterbacks.

The following is a transcript of their dialogue:

McIntyre: "Let's be real, the Josh McDaniels experience with the Raiders, it's not going good."

Cowherd: "It's not."

McIntyre: "We've heard the Garoppolo disaster, the Davante Adams."

Cowherd: "Here's my thing: he's a little, what they call, brusk. He's a little curt, he's a little harsh."

McIntyre: "You would think he would've learned his lesson in Denver."

Cowherd: "Some guys don't learn their lesson. We all have people in our lives."

McIntyre: "It's tough. Does a tiger change his stripes? It's not easy."

Cowherd: "No, he -- Josh McDaniels basically turned down the Colts. Said: 'I'd take it,' then he pulled out. Then it alienated people. He and [Tom] Brady fought more than once. He went to Denver, got kind of arrogant and failed."

McIntyre: "He basically walked in and said, 'Oh, Jay Cutler's the franchise quarterback? I don't want this guy.' He allegedly showed a film of all his mistakes. Cutler was like: 'What the hell? This is how I meet the coach?' And then it was done. [McDaniels] was like: 'I want [Tim] Tebow.'"

Cowherd: "You know, sometimes, it's like, it's a therapy thing. Like a character flaw. Some people in their discussions, they're very conflict driven. ... It usually goes back to a dad or how you were raised. I think Josh tends to be very, kind of, conflict-oriented in the way he approaches stuff."
