McDaniels: Adams is 'Exceptional in Almost Every Way'

Las Vegas Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels had no shortage of good things to say about his best player on Friday.

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is truly one of a kind.

Between the numbers Adams has consistently put up in the last few years and the mentality he carries to make sure he's ready to suit up every week, it's rare you'll find a player of his caliber.

Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels and his staff have the honor of witnessing it firsthand every day.

"[Adams] is one of the more unique players, people, that I've been around," McDaniels said when he addressed the media on Friday. "I feel like I've been fortunate to be around a number of guys who were really good football players and good people as well. 

"He's just exceptional in almost every way; starting with his ability to be out there all the time. And the pace that he practices at, the tempo that he works at, it's obviously very clear why he has achieved what he's achieved because every day is basically that. And the consistency, the work that you put in when nobody else is looking, to make sure your body stays always ready for peak performance as best you can for so many years like he has.

" ... Honest to God, his consistency is amazing. [He] sees the game very special. I coached Randy [Moss], and he saw the game very similarly in terms of how intelligent they were at their position. 

"And they saw every defense known to mankind in their careers. So, from punt vices to double teams to linebackers coming over [to] try to hit them, they've seen it all. So, he's got a perspective that's very unique and rare. And his skill and his talent is, it's at the highest level. He plays at an incredible speed. 

"His hands, his length, his reach, his ability to twist and turn and make tough catches. I mean it's a privilege to coach guys like that because you don't get to see that every day all the time. And you know you're watching it when you're out there and you're seeing him practice and do it in practice and then when it happens in the game, it doesn't surprise any one of us because it's just -- there's so much of it we've already witnessed."

The Silver and Black return to the road this week in Inglewood, Calif., to play the Los Angeles Chargers (1-2) on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4:05 p.m. EDT/1:05 p.m. PDT.
