Raiders' Top-End Talent Will Determine Success

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders were just a six-win team last season, a disappointing result by their standards.
After a season of retooling the roster, Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler are ready to be a playoff team again in 2023.
If the Raiders want to get back into the postseason, it starts with the elite players they have at the top of their roster on both sides of the ball.
The Raiders’ success is dependent on wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive end Maxx Crosby playing to the best of their ability, or even taking it a step further than that. The rest of the team goes where those two players go.
The Raiders already have an uphill battle when it comes to making the playoffs, as there are several elite teams in the AFC. Even with an extra wild card spot, it’s possible a 10-win team could miss the playoffs.
Advantageously for the Raiders, they have arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL with Adams. The NFL is a passing league at the moment, and Adams is one of the most dangerous receiving threats in football. He had a great season in his first year with the Silver and Black, and it will be up to him to carry the Raiders’ offense to success.
Defensively, the Raiders were not good at any level. Their biggest bright spot on that end, however, was Crosby. He posted career-bests in tackles, tackles for losses, and sacks last season en route to his second Pro Bowl.
Defensive end is arguably the most important position on defense, as getting to the quarterback and disrupting the flow of the opposing offense is an ideal way to be successful on defense. Crosby has been doing this for his entire career, and if he can take another step forward, could carry the Raiders’ defense where it needs to be.
The Raiders have two elite players at important positions, players who will determine the team’s overall success. When we look back on the Raiders’ 2023 season, the conversation begins and ends with the performances of Adams and Crosby.
