McDaniels Not Concerned With Jimmy G's TOs in Practice

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's recent performances in practice weren't the most promising signs of what fans want to see form their new franchise quarterback.

Heading into the team's practice on Sunday, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had thrown seven interceptions over the previous two practices.

Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels, however, is not alarmed.

"No concerns," McDaniels told the media Sunday. "We've also seen some really good throws and some stretches where the offense has really done a lot of good things. And I think this is that time of camp every year where it's very competitive. Everybody that's out there is really competing in their own position group. We're making progress and improving, and we're also seeing a lot of the same things daily from the other side of the ball.

"So, this is about that time where you start to get excited to maybe compete against somebody else that hasn't been looking at the same motions and formations and coverages and all the rest of it that you've been looking at since the beginning of OTAs. So, no, I think, look, there's some accredit to be given to the other side when they make a play, and they're competing too, so I think it's just normal ebbs and flows of camp. Been some really good days and then there's some plays where you get to coach off them. So, no, that's what I think that is."

Garoppolo will have the chance to see his old team, the San Francisco 49ers, when the Raiders host the Niners for some joint practices this week.

The veteran spent six seasons with the 49ers, having been part of three trips to the NFC title game and one to the Super Bowl.

Garoppolo, of course, won two Super Bowl titles as a member of the New England Patriots before his years in San Francisco.

This first season with the Raiders will be his 10th overall.

Las Vegas will host the 49ers on Sunday at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT for their first preseason game.
