Josh McDaniels on Hunter Renfrow's Return

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders began training camp on Tuesday as the NFL regular season is inching closer.
Wide receiver Hunter Renfrow is one player who is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2022 season that saw him struggle with injuries and inconsistent play.
Renfrow had an excellent 2021 season and is hoping to regain that form. He posted more than 1,000 receiving yards and made the Pro Bowl.
Coach Josh McDaniels spoke about getting Renfrow back healthy and acclimated to his system when he addressed the media on Tuesday.
“Yeah, we just spoke this morning -- super excited,” McDaniels said. “Any time you have a player who battles through a bunch of injuries like Hunter [Renfrow] did last year and the stuff that prevented him from being on the field, you have some extra motivation as a coach to see it through and make sure that he comes back and has the type of season he’s capable of having, which we all know what that is, we’ve seen that before. I know he’s excited. He’s ready to go. He’s healthy, had a good offseason. So again, we can’t predict anything, but I know what Hunter is capable of. I know what he means to our team. I know how excited he is to perform well and try to help us win, and that’s what we’re geared toward, too.”
Renfrow is part of one of the more formidable wide receiver trios in the NFL, along with Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. He will likely operate out of the slot often, an area where his short field quickness and reliable hands are incredibly useful.
McDaniels had some very positive words for Renfrow, citing his work ethic and desire to contribute to winning, as well as acknowledging his worth to the Raiders.
Renfrow battled a concussion and an abdomen injury last season, which limited his time on the field. He has since worked his way back to health from those injuries and is ready to contribute again for the Raiders.
A fully healthy Renfrow is one of the more effective slot receivers in the NFL, and his head coach has full belief in his abilities.
The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
